STATEMENT FROM NYCLASS
NYCLASS Slams Quinn on Lack of Empathy for New York’s Animals
“Christine Quinn has not been a friend to NYC’s animals.” Allie Feldman, Executive Director of NYCLASS said. “New Yorkers are looking for an empathetic Mayor. When it comes to protecting animals, it is clear that Quinn shows callousness rather than empathy. During her tenure as Speaker, she opposed lifesaving legislation that would require pet stores to install fire sprinklers (after hundreds of animals perished in massive pet store fires in NYC). She literally left animals out in the cold by killing efforts to build animals shelters in the Bronx and Queens, and she refused to stop the abuse of NYC carriage horses despite the fact there’s been 18 accidents in the past two years. It is clear to us that Quinn has no compassion for animals, which is why today we are announcing the launch of www.QuinnHatesAnimals.com. We urge New Yorkers to visit out site to learn more about just how little empathy Quinn shows to our city’s four legged residents.”
More About NYCLASS:
NYCLASS is an animal advocacy organization committed to ending the inhumane practices of the NYC carriage horse industry. NYCLASS advocates for retiring the carriage horses to sanctuary, while modernizing the current industry with a clean and safe alternative to this outdated tradition - the 21st Century Horseless Carriage. NYCLASS also advocates for many other NYC animal issues such as protecting a senior citizen's right to have a companion pet, mandating pet stores install fire sprinklers, protecting animals used in entertainment and reforming the city's animal shelter system. Founded in 2008 by a coalition of prominent animal lovers and business leaders, NYCLASS has grown to over 110,000 supporters with activist chapters in all five boroughs.
